CPCA Cui Dongshu: CN Trade-in Policy Shows Significant Results; Involution & Price Cut Phenomenon Weakens Notably
The promotion and downgrading in the passenger car industry returned to rational levels, with market order showing marked improvement, Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), said.
In 10M25, the scale of new car price reductions was relatively moderate, with 156 models affected. The current price competition mainly involves new cars directly breaking the existing price floor, rather than adopting a mode of adding features without cutting prices.
Cui believed that the national trade-in policy has shown significant results, with market sales growth and a noticeably weakened involution and price cut phenomenon.
The industry's operational pressure has improved, with the auto industry's 1-3Q25 profit margin rising to a mid-low level of 4.5%, demonstrating a positive trend in industry scale growth and price promotion stabilization.
